Question:
Why
does the WATCHDOG window pop up and say that polling has stopped
when everything is fine with the GEMLink system?
Answer:
The Watchdog program provides a very important emergency backup
function to the GEMLink system’s failsafe operation.
Therefore, it is important that you do not disable this
valuable program.
However, if it turns on unnecessarily, it is nothing more
than a nuisance.
The good news is that this problem is easy to fix.
Follow
these simple steps:
-
In GEMLink,
go to the OPTIONS selection on the menu bar at the top of
the screen. Select
SYSTEM, which will bring up the system parameters dialogue
box.
-
In the TIME
ZONE field will be listed the time zone GEMLink
thinks it is in. If
this is not your actual time zone, click the small arrow to reveal a drop-down list of time zones.
Select your actual time zone.
-
Click OK to
save your changes and close the system parameters dialogue.
-
Now go to the
START button on your Windows taskbar, then to SETTINGS, then
to CONTROL PANEL. Once
CONTROL PANEL opens, double-click the DATE/TIME icon.
-
When the
DATE/TIME dialogue opens, click the TIME ZONE tab.
Make sure that the time zone shown is the SAME ONE
you just selected in the GEMLink system parameters
(which should be the actual time zone you reside in). If any changes are needed, make them and click OK to save and
close the dialogue box.
-
Close CONTROL
PANEL, then restart Windows normally to make certain the
correct time zones are being used by both Windows and GEMLink.
Your
WATCHDOG problem should now be solved.
